Urgent request. What ist this this theme function call
about? It makes our sites very slow. We already did client and server side optimization but still some it took very high usage of server CPU and time. Also, why is this problem not showing on theme demo url?3 weeks, 4 days ago MirelaKeymaster
Sorry for the late reply!
admin-ajax.phpin speed tests or access logs is typically the result of two different scenarios happening, one front-end and the other back-end.
1- Plugins Can Cause
The first and most common issue that people see with
admin-ajax.phpis those generated from 3rd party plugins. This is typically seen on the front-end and show up in speed tests. Do you have many third party plugins installed? Are you using the included version of Visual Composer or have you bought it as a stand-alone plugin? I suggest you test this out by deactivating them all and test site again. Make sure to have cleared cache before testing again. So you won’t be loading an older version of the site.
2- CPU Issues with
Another scenario you have to be careful is with auto-saving in WordPress and leaving tabs open.
admin-ajax.phpis used to auto-save as well. So if you leave a tab open, the Heartbeat API by default polls the admin-ajax.php file every 15 seconds to do an auto-save. Resulting in many calls thru a short amount of time.
A plugin that can help you with controlling this is Heartbeat Control
Let me know.

Sorry but this is a core wordpress function and can not be cut-out. I suggest you take some steps to improve the site performance, but removing it is not possible. Check this article for more information:
Do you have added any custom css in General Options > Custom Css box? If yes, try removing it and paste it in Appearance > Customize > Additional Css. This is wordpress menu for custom codes. Let us know if this changes anything.
